The painting "Chassidic Gathering" describes the practice of Chassidic Jewish men to ritually gather together, sing traditional songs, listen to their Rebbe, and open their hearts to one another.
Griffin has covered the canvas in layers of oil paint, and used turpentine to wipe it away, exposing the white canvas underneath and revealing the image in the process.
This technique blurs the image making it seem almost like a dream. The artists is describing the experience both as an active participant, and as an outsider looking in.

The photo was taken during nightfall at Hof Palmachim. It was taken with the very last rays of light on the horizon at very slow exposure, therefore the water is flat and reflects the different colors in the sky. Geometrically, there are two paths between the moss covered rocks that merge into the horizon to the uknown. Hence the title of the photo is Unknown Horizon. In her series “Circles in the Trees,” Valabregue audaciously elaborates on a visual tradition, active until the nineteenth century, called “ilaney sefirot” (sefirotic trees). She describes sefirotic trees as “maps of the divine, of its different emanations, which often take the form of a human body[mp1] .” “I gathered, from ancient manuscripts and early prints, images of angels, demons, kmeot (amulets), ilanot (trees), and hamsot,” she explains. “The idea is to create new icons from ancient ones, to revive them and give them new form.” This series draws on manuscripts from the generous Gross Family Collection, Tel Aviv, one of the world’s largest private collections of Judaica.
